After the success obtained in 2017 with the celebration of the II IOM in the city of Albacete, this third edition of the meeting has as its main objective to carry out an in-depth analysis of the sector, highlighting the importance of this vegetable in all its aspects, both productive, nutritious, marketing and phytosanitary.
Castilla-La Mancha is the main producing region in Spain, and one of the most important in Europe, with more than 11,500 hectares cultivated in 2021 and a production that, in 2019, exceeded 835 million kilos. Within this region, the provinces of Albacete and Ciudad Real stand out for their figures, which in the 2019 campaign added more than 9,544 hectares as a whole, being the largest producers in Spain, and one of the most important production areas in Europe.
The two days will feature testimonies from professionals in the sector who will present the news and advances that have occurred during these years.
The only International Meeting of the onion sector that highlights the importance of this crop both nationally and internationally.
On November 7 the presentations will affect the cultivating areas of land preparation, planting, fertilization, phytosanitary control, completion of cultivation and marketing.
The 8th of November will be dedicated to the presentation of innovations in planting, cultivation and harvesting machinery, as well as product processing after harvest, packaging and labeling.
